If you’ve heard a lot of people talking about orange concealers / correctors or the color wheel and you can’t figure out how it all works… then you must read on cuz in this review I will explain the color wheel and how orange correctors work !!
Opposite colors on the color wheel when mixed together makes brown. That’s the simplest explanation you can get.
If you have Red marks on you cheeks or face then instead of caking your face with a skin toned concealer you should apply a green corrector or concealer.
If you have bluish black dark circles then an orange corrector / concealer will help you get rid of it.
Have a look at the color wheel and you will understand the shade of concealer or corrector you need to invest in to get rid of your problem areas.
I purchased the MAC pure orange corrector for my dark circles. It cost me Rs 1000. You get 6g of product and a little bit of product will be more than enough as it’s very pigmented. It’s non sticky and blends in easily.
You need to apply the orange corrector only on your dark circles and not all around your eye. Once you’ve applied it use a yellow concealer and blend it in with the orange. Add little by little of yellow concealer at a time and blend it together. Keep blending in the yellow color with the orange till the color of the concealer matches your skin. You’ll be amazed at the results.
Don’t get too scared when u apply the orange on ur dark circles, because it will look too orange on initial application. After you’re done with applying the two correctors / concealers, you need to apply a face powder to set it in. While you do this, it is better to use a sponge instead of a brush. A sponge somehow helps the concealer to set in better. A lot of people also use beauty blenders to do this job.
I use NYX yellow concealer in a jar to blend out the orange and it works perfectly well for me. Their concealer is non-sticky,easy to blend out and easy on your pocket JJ. NYX also has an Orange concealer in a jar, however this has been out of stock for months L L… NYX is definitely a cheaper option than buying MAC or Make up forever and it’s just as good. A lot of people also apply a matte orange lipstick to do the job.
I’ve seen a dozen makeup tutorials where the makeup artist always suggests to use a concealer one shade lighter than you skin tone and if you ask my opinion on this, I’d say it’s utter rubbish and doesn’t work for anybody. While it is believed that using a lighter shade of concealer brightens your eye, I feel this only makes ur dark circles look ashy and gives a reverse raccoon effect. Just as seen in the picture below:
Hope this review has helped.. have fun concealing!!!!
